2009-2019 from the grassroots within low income, low food access peri-urban communities

  • 2006-9 Established the Teaching Garden, permaculture applications
  • 2009 Established the Healthy Food Hub, purchase produce from Pembroke Farmers
  • 2010 Teaching High Tunnel, Extended Growing Season Production, 10 months of growing
  • 2011 Pembroke Community Forum, USDA Pembroke residents want to restore Pembroke as an Agricultural Center once more (3rd largest hemp producers in the nation during WW2)
  • 2013-2015 USDA, NIFA, BFRDG Rotating Apprenticeship Farmer Training, initiate field crop production, soil management, integrative pest management on 2 acres increased to 4
  • 2014-2016 USDA AMS, LFPP worked with Pembroke elementary school (LRSTTA) and farmers to establish a food hub at the school, fresh fruit and vegetable program
  • 2017-2019 Cook County Health Partnership, Fresh Food Market Physician Lead Market Prescription Program, Apprentices supply food for market at 3 ambulatory clinics. Grew on up to 7 acres, vegetables
  • 2018-2019 Black Farmers Discrimination Litigation Award, expansion of food production, supplying up to 80% of vegetables for 3-4 markets/week, successful production of a Hemp Mother Seed Crop
  • 2019  Food Land Opportunity Award to improve the efficiency and capacity of the Healthy Food Hub
